What do we do?

The main goals of the Legal Clinic in Property Law and Residential Mediation are to provide housing advisory services free of charge to citizens, offering them an alternative to litigation (residential mediation); at the same time, the Clinic seeks to train students providing them with practical experience in these areas. This service, which is open to the public through this site, is known as ClinHab.

We also carry out other activities, including:

  • Workshops on urban leasing, residential mediation and public housing policy run by the civil law department’s teaching staff and students, and of technical staff and social workers at the ProHabitatge Association.
  • Publishing a very well-received practical guide on mortgage delinquency to aid people who carry out information and advisory tasks. To download the latest version of the guide free of charge, click here.
  • The University Extension Course on Housing Conflict Management: Residential Mediation, on two successive occasions, in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2012 academic years. Students gave high grades to the course content. If you would like to receive more information about forthcoming editions of the course, click here.
  • Analysis of recent lease and mortgage loan agreements to detect clauses that are potentially abusive or, at the very least, the future lessee should bear in mind before signing the agreement.
  • Disseminating mediation as a mortgage-related conflict resolution tool. You can find more documentation and listen to some of the presentations here.
  • Through a cooperation agreement with the Catalan Housing Agency, we offer mortgage-related training workshops for Housing Office staff.
  • Occasional training activities targeting sector professionals and technical staff.
